— Past projects —
Look around below at some of my most recent projects and see if it's something you'd be interested in. In addition the the listed websites, I am also a contract designer with Eli Lilly and Co., though my work with them is for internal sites that cannot be publicly accessed.
The Message Online
This website was a pretty big undertaking: a new site from scratch for The Message, the Catholic newspaper for the Diocese of Evansville, Ind. They are a weekly newspaper and wanted an online home to not only be able to feature their ongoing news stories, but to also post items such as their bishop's weekly column, an events calendar, letters to the editor, columnists, movie reviews and a national Catholic news feed.
St. Matthew School
This school is run by St. Matthew Parish, whose site I also redesigned. We knew going into the parish site that the odds were good that the school would be getting a new look as well, so I built the parish site with ways with the school in mind. In the end, the basic structure and coding of the two sites is the same, but the graphics, photos and colors are different on each to reflect their own identity.
AmyWelborn .com
Amy Welborn is a Catholic writer who I'd come to know remotely not only from reading her blog and articles, but also from some correspondence. I offered to help her create a new site to showcase her many books and she agreed -- we wanted it to have a somewhat serious feel, deep colors and a clear sense of Catholicism. I based the design on a wooden icon of the Virgin and Child and I had on hand.
HearGodsCall .com
This website was really done as part of my job with the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Indianapolis (see designs further down). Our Vocations Offices, which has a special focus on helping men discern a call to the priesthood, wanted a different, more modern, look to their specific site. Using a our photos and the work of a professional photographer and videographer, the design came out with a crisp look.
St. Matthew Parish
St. Matthew the Apostle Parish is a Roman Catholic Church community on the northside of Indianapolis. Especially as 2008 is their 50th anniversary, they were ready to move up to a new design that communicated the life of their parish more effectively and that displayed a certain level of professionalism. A new logo for the parish provided the cornerstone for a colorful design.
Trademark Title Services
Trademark Title Services, LLC is a full service real estate title and escrow company that conducts on-site closings for the sale and refinance of residential and commercial properties. Owned and operated by an attorney in Peoria, Ill., this site was designed to closely match the layout and structure of another website (the law office of Jane E. Ohaver, P.C.) which will be launching in the near future from 7 Leaf Design.
Ind. Catholic Conference
The Indiana Catholic Conference is the official lobbying organization of the five bishops of Indiana. Their site was set up years ago by a student and built into a database that has served them well. Working within the restrictions of the database, they wanted a facelift for the site that would make it look more current while also including appropriate photos and the use of their logo.
CanAm Piano Duo
This client wanted a crisp site with a bit of an urban feel. This piano duo already had their domain name, but needed a website that could contain not only basic information, but also serve as a location for them to post official photos and sound files. With a little tweaking, we took a handful of professional photos that they had and made them into a rotating front page feature.
St. Andrew the Apostle Parish
This parish already had a one-page Web site in existence, but it was terribly out of date and they were looking for something new. Using some sketched artwork they provided, along with a piece of their stationery, I designed a first draft of the site based on their layout. After that, t hey gave me some more pictures that were used to bring color, life and personalization to their pages.
Holy Rosary Parish
This website is certainly not my first project as a Web designer, but it is the first site that I've designed under the name of 7 Leaf Design. This Catholic parish is nestled near the heart of downtown Indianapolis and renowned for its Italian heritage. I designed the site to not only match the rough look of its first version, but also made use only of colors and photographs taken from the church itself.
Archdiocese of Indianapolis
This website is broken up into seven major sections, which in total encompass about 40 different agencies run by the Catholic archdiocese. This site was designed as part of my full-time job as the Web site manager of the archdiocese and is much more complex than any site that I would probably design as part of 7 Leaf Design. Still, a site built completly with cascading style sheets and ready for transition into a database.
The Criterion Online Edition
This website serves as the online home for Indiana's largest weekly newspaper, The Criterion, which is a publication owned and operated by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Indianapolis. The massive site, which contains thousands of pages and files, is a source of local Catholic news as well as a way for people to see what is going on in the nation and world as relates to Catholicism.
My personal homepage
This project is not only a testing ground for learning more about Web design, but also is a great way to keep family and friends up to date to with the latest news and photos that my wife and I have to share. Hosted on a free server, it fits the very limited needs I have. Such free hosting may be an option for very small companies or personal Web sites, but it is always better to pay a little for better hosting.
Metropolitan Tribunal
This page is no longer online as it is displayed in the screenshot. This was one of several unique sites that I created within the older version of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Web site. Since the whole site was more loosely connected than it is now, I was able to take much greater creative license with the individual pages. This set of pages was the last that I designed before moving on to a full-scale redesign.
